Douro Dam Reconstruction project

New mandates

By Johanne Laurin 11 January 2019

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the awarding of the Douro Dam reconstruction project, 12 km north of Peterborough, on the Trent-Severn Waterway in Ontario.

Canada’s renowned inland passageway of 386 km connects Lake Ontario to Lake Huron. Owned by Parks Canada Agency, the Douro Dam is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site. Since some dams in this section of canal are nearing the end of their life, Parks Canada Agency has initiated a program of repair.

To do this, the federal agency commissioned a consortium consisting of Maple Reinders and Construction demathieu & bard to manage its rehabilitation program. In September 2017, this consortium qualified EBC for two of the three lots, that is, the South and Center lots.

This project consists of the replacement of the entire existing dam structure, including the deck, piers, abutments, stop logs, spillways, upstream and downstream wing walls, and east and west approach slabs and all temporary works.

Our Mississauga office will be responsible for the project. The preparatory work started in November 2018 and the project will end in December 2020.
