On May 27 was held the 17th ceremony of the Grands Prix du génie-conseil québécois 2019, presented in Montréal by the Association des firmes de génie-conseil – Québec (AFG) to honor the engineering expertise of the best projects in the industry. The CRT-EBC Consortium and Tetra Tech proudly won in the “Energy” category for the Upper Lillooet and Boulder Creek Hydroelectric Project.

The hydro project near Pemberton, British Columbia, was completed between October 2013 and March 2017. It included two hydroelectric facilities, Upper Lillooet River with a capacity of 81 MW and Boulder Creek with a capacity of 25 MW.

Awarded in design-build mode by Innergex, the CRT-EBC Consortium engaged Tetra Tech to perform the detailed engineering. The technical constraints on the worksites required innovative efforts for the penstock design. High level engineering work was required to overcome the complexity of the project.

Local communities, including the Lil’wat First Nation, were involved in this project which provides long-term and sustainable energy from renewable sources for the population.

A great example of social, environmental and economic awareness.
