One million hours worked on Rio Tinto’s AP60 plant site

News

By Démi Paré 7 March 2025

The 96-tank AP60 expansion project recently reached a major milestone, with over one million hours worked on site! With nearly 1,000 workers on site, by 2025 the project will have reached its highest-ever workforce of nearly 1,200 workers in the spring.

Over 50% complete, a series of works are underway at the site, including the smelter buildings, gas treatment center, alumina distribution equipment, compressor room and electrical rooms. In 2025, other works will be added, such as the potliner refurbishment center, harmonic filters and various developments in operational areas, including the casting center, carbon, metal treatment center and crucible cleaner.

EBC is proud to be part of this project alongside Rio Tinto and all the teams mobilized to bring this major expansion to fruition. All the companies involved in this major project are contributing their expertise and knowledge to its success. The one million hours worked are a testimony to our collective success and exceptional commitment.
